Rehabilitation Technology Services consist of consulting, design and advocacy on behalf of persons with disabilities.  Services include but are not limited to, long term planning for rehabilitation technology needs; for example the type of appliances such as manual and power wheelchairs, batteries, maintenance, cushions and customized seating and positioning. 

Most seniors want to live in their own homes for as long as possible, the nursing home is only a last resort.  Unfortunately, most homes seniors are living in were designed 30 years ago with children, family and work as the priorities.  Now the second floor and basement are not as necessary as they were previously.  The bathtub is seldom used for a bathtub but for showering instead.  Every level change in the house is a problem rather than a unique design.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Dr. Ward has extensive experience with the ADA from both academic and practical points of view.  While working for many years in state employment programs for people with disabilities he has understanding of the five titles of the ADA and their implications and impact on our people, businesses and institutions.  He has assisted businesses with preparing and implementing plans to accommodate individuals with disabilities and expand their services to more prospective customers.  Additionally he has advised businesses with accessibility issues to develop plans to support their desire to implement the ADA, while marketing their business to the largest number of employees and customers possible.
